Evelyn Elizabeth Strahan Taylor Evelyn Taylor, 99 of Petal, MS was born on October 3, 1924 and died August 16th, 2024 at her home due to a lengthy illness. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 20th , 2024 at Indian Springs Baptist Church from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow immediately at the church cemetery. Mrs. Taylor worked 50 years as a bookkeeper for several companies in Hattiesburg including two that supported the WWII effort. She attended Indian Springs Baptist Church for 37 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Ray Taylor, father, Van Buren Strahan Sr., mother, Clara Lee Strahan, sisters, Grace Strahan Sandlin, and Frances Strahan, brothers, Van Buren Strahan and Lawrence Powell Strahan. She is survived by her son, Lee Taylor (Carol), daughter, Susan Collier (David), five grandchildren, Steven Taylor, Christen Kirkwood (Kenny), Amy Meyers (Adam), Katie Wells (Jeremie), and Holly Collier (Chad). She is also survived by seven great grandchildren, Declan and Maris Kirkwood, Greyson and Taylor Wells, Weston and Laurel Byrd, and Barrett Meyers. She also leaves behind a first cousin, Joanne Ward and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Bill Bailey, Kenneth Kirkwood, Jessie Locke, Wayne McMahan, Adam Meyers, Steve Taylor, Rickey Trussell, Chad Toussaint, and Jeremie Wells. Honorary Pallbearers will be Weston Byrd and Greyson Wells. We would also like to thank the medical staff at Forrest General Hospital Home Health and Hospice, Dr. Rodney Lovitt and Dr. Craig Thieling for the extra special care they gave her for many years.
