Russell Lee Stone Jr. "Sparky" Purvis, MS. Age: 40 y/o. Date of death: July, 18 2016. Place of death: his residence in Purvis MS. Born November 13, 1975 in Orlando, Florida. He grew up and spent his early adult years in Broward County, Florida surrounded by family and many lifelong friends. Russell became a resident of Lamar County MS. in 2005. After his move to Mississippi he quickly developed a passion for our community. His willingness to serve us pushed open doors for him to do so as a volunteer fire fighter and first responder EMT basic in 2007. He went on to secure his love and desire to serve and care for his fellow man by graduating from the MS Fire Academy in 2010 and later completing an AD in Paramedicine at JCJC in 2012. He was currently enrolled at William Carey University in pursuit of his D.O. He oversaw/served the Pine Ridge/ Oak Grove/ Hattiesburg area as a full time fire fighter from 2012 until present. He was made Fire fighter of the year for his heroic role in the rescue of 2 Lamar County residents. He served as a Paramedic for AAA ambulance service in Lamar, Forrest and surrounding counties from 2012 until present. He held countless certificates and awards in both career choices. He was a son, a husband and a father. He was a friend and hero in many regards. He was preceded in death by his Father and beloved Grandmother. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony among family in Broward County, Florida. A place of family and peace for him.
