Richard Mayo Brown

January 21, 1971 - February 28, 2022

Richard was loved and respected by many, and will be greatly missed. He was rough around the edges, aren’t we all, but he was the embodiment of what it meant to be a man and always put his family first. He was loyal to a fault, did everything at 100%, and stood up for what he believed in. He was larger than life, and had what could only be called true grit. Not just resilient, he was and still is one of the most intelligent people I’ve ever known. He had this innate ability to not only learn things quickly, but also to master them. He was a natural leader, and always took charge and care of everything he was involved with. There were so many layers to Richard and his life, that they all can’t possibly be written here. Unfortunately, Richard lost his battle against depression and a host of other issues. Many people close to a suicide are reluctant to share how they passed, out of a sense of protectiveness toward the dead, a desire for their own privacy, and to avoid all the stigmas around suicide and mental health in general. We don’t think anyones entire life should be remembered, or judged based on a single decision, however flawed. We believe that one step toward suicide prevention is a more open, public conversation about the subject. Richard leaves behind his loving wife Anita Brown, son’s Richie Brown and James Goff and daughter-in-law Becca and 3 grandchildren he loved and adored Ryland, Elliott and Della Goff, Father & Mother in law, Bill & Cheryl Dailey along with several aunts, brother-in-law, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and too many “brothers” to name. He was preceded in death by his father, Sammy Brown, his mother, Darlene Brown and his grandparents. He also leaves behind his 3 loyal furry companions-Charlie, Callie and Stormie.
