John Egger Thatch was born on November 14, 1951, in Laurel, Mississippi, to Willie Eugene Thatch and Frances Helen Howard Thatch. He went home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2022, at his home in Hattiesburg. He spent most of his childhood growing up in Meridian, Mississippi, and graduated from Meridian High School in 1969. He earned a bachelor’s degree in forest products from Mississippi State University. He has been married to Emily Williams Thatch for 39 years. His hobbies included listening to old music, visiting with friends, and watching movies with Emily at home. Most recently, he enjoyed encouraging others in their faith with his daily text messages. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David and Charlie Thatch; a sister, Bertie Griffin; and an infant daughter Amanda. John is survived by his wife Emily, his mother-in-law Mowetha Williams of Poplarville, MS; a daughter Frannie (Wade) Parker of Meridian, MS; six grandchildren: Blaine, John Luke, Lainey, Reese, Sarah, and Callie Parker; a nephew Dustin (Karen) Griffin of Spanish Fort, AL; and two great-nephews Benjamin and Lucas Griffin; and a great-niece Emma Grace Griffin.
